Tips to switch from non-profit to for profit H1-B

Feb 25, 2020 3 Comments

Hi,
I'm currently working in a hospital as a researcher in non-profit H1-B visa. Well, to be honest the pay is far below the pay provided by private industries and I was wondering if someone could help a fellow job seeker to help in transitioning to an industry job ( research- pharma). I'll really appreciate your help regarding this.

(Advice is meant for green card back-logged countries) From what I know most companies would not sponsor you unless you start working with them. Since H1B is lottery based you might not be able to start working with them in the future as well. The alternative is O1 visa for which you need a high-impact research profile. If you can convince your company to file O-1 that would great. Or else nothing comes to my mind except for the shady desi consultancies which might file H1B for money, regardless of the lottery results.
