Looking to take advantage of the lower interest rates. What areas around NY / NJ should I be looking into. Schools and 1-1.5 hr commute to NY are to priority. #mortgage #housing #newyork #suburbs

      At least 2, unless youโ€™re some kind of NJTransit savant and you work in Penn Center.

      NJ Transit to Penn Station is terrible. There are only 24 trains an hour that can get through and Amtrak has priority.

      Iโ€™ve done this commute before and it suuuucks

      OP i have done this. Its really not so bad if you are on a nulice train like LIRR or Metro North a couple of times a week.

      I would try to cut down the time. I know you can use your laptop on the train or something, but thats 3hours out of your day.

  • Westchester County NY (Ardsley, Dobbsferry, Irvington) all have really good schools. You can also look at Bergen County NJ. Your commute will be between 45 to 90 mins based on where you work in NY

  • Syosset school district, Jericho school district, Great Neck. Nassau county will be your best bet. Within those districts, youโ€™ll have a range of housing to choose from. You can splurge on estates with multiple acres or go for regular home in a nice neighborhood. Itโ€™s very safe, kids have lots of friends, many extracurricular activities, and teachers are genuinely good at their jobs and caring. From Hicksville station itโ€™s like a 1-1.5 hr commute. Lots of parents in the area commute to the city.
