Is Zendesk up for sale? Not sure if this is an old news but I just came across this https://seekingalpha.com/news/3824111-zendesk-gains-on-report-its-exploring-a-potential-sale Zendesk stock gains on report it's exploring a potential sale (NYSE:ZEN) on my feed.

If this true whoโ€™s ready to buy them ?

So do those unvested RSUs come forward or do we still need to wait the original number of years for them to vest?

  • I accepted zendesk offer in Feb and have my joining in May. Although the rumors of a sale raises a flag I believe being a SWE at Zendesk looks better on my CV than at a bank( my current employer). Hence I am determined to make the move. What do you guys think ?

Itโ€™s definitely a calculated risk, I am unhappy with my current work and pay.

If you're unhappy with your current work and pay I would definitely still join. No one knows what's going to happen in the future, we may not sell it all, we may sell to another publicly traded company and your shares convert, we may sell to PE and they convert shares to cash... It's all speculation at this point.

What's not speculation is the work that you would be doing when you join. The scale of our business hasn't changed, and even if something about the engineering culture changed it would take a while for that to happen, meanwhile you're getting valuable experience and a name on your resume.

So with a potential sale that may or may not happen, is it good to accept an offer from Zendesk for a Sr. PM role? The team is super interested in me but the HM said he knows about the sale only as much as I do :)

    Offer details:

    Base: 200k
    Sign on: 20k
    RSUs: 160k over 4 years
    10% bonus every year

    Current comp at Amazon

    Base: 162.5k
Sign-on: 100k over 2 years that is completing in 2 months
RSUs: 260k vesting over 4 years

Total comp looks more or less the same between what I make now and what Zendesk if offering.

Thank you! At Amazon, I have gotten really really lucky with my current team in terms of great WLB, something that is unheard of with other teams and I canโ€™t complain. Is the work great? It is okay, not bad but at the same time I am not doing ground breaking work either ๐Ÿ˜Š. At Zendesk, the role is good but what concerns me is the potential sale discussions and as someone who is on a work visa, that always concerns me. Thoughts? Any internal rumors going on regarding the sale?

IMO, donโ€™t join Zendesk right now, unless youโ€™re absolutely desperate to get out of Amazon. Executive leadership has lost the confidence of the shareholders, and the company is unprofitable.

Not a place you want to be late in a monetary cycle.

We havenโ€™t been โ€œswatting away buyout offersโ€ as far as I know โ€” thereโ€™s been one, which would be at negligible premium to the current stock price. Lots of room for the stock to fall and motive for the shareholders to force cost cutting to get to profitability. Thatโ€™s especially true if the overall economy turns for the worse.
