I got positive feedback from hiring event & got matched with a HM. I didn’t like the tech stack and language (.Net) used by that team. MS folks if your team have any openings please respond.

TIA!

Considering .Net was made by Microsoft, a majority of teams there use it in one form or another. Microsoft uses c# as amazon uses Java. If you don’t want to work with it then might as well find another company. Considering u have peanut TC u might as well suck it up

I think there are java teams and Python teams bur far and between. Probably teams that maintain sdks or build integration stuff

Yea my point being that OP is coming from Cerner, beggars can’t be choosers, finding a Java or python team is likely going to cost him the opportunity, he can always transfer internally after making connections with teams that align more with his tech stack interest. Also, tech stack doesn’t even matter that much, adaptability, impact, and leadership are much more valuable things to focus on

  • Lmao. Doesn't want to entertain working with .NET to get hired by Microsoft. What if they ask you to work with some other technology you don't like? Btw, what do you "not like" about . NET? It's not even a programming language. Software is work, like any other job. Sometimes you work with the newest freshest tech and it's awesome. Sometimes you work with some archaic bullshit. You have to at least pretend to be a little flexible, especially when you're just entering the industry. Out of curiosity, what's your tech stack of choice?

    • I mean, okay, pull on the heart strings but if you think that as an engineer you're going to go to work every single day and really enjoy every single task you have to do (God I fucking love JIRA so much!) then you're kidding yourself. Work is work, that's why it's called work.

      OP
Hey, I come from big data space and all my life I use either Java or python. Am not against C#, just that I feel more confident in those languages.

Hey OP, how was the interview experience in the hiring event. Was it mostly LC medium and how many rounds of system design. I got reached out by a recruiter for April hiring event. Any insights?

  • As a former Java guy from school and C++/C# enjoyer now for now, I am usually more impressed by .net than I am annoyed by it
