Let's create a summary of how much companies pay software engineers in the Bay.
This is NOT a thread for saying YOUR salary.
We are only talking "average SW engineer in Bay". Not junior, not senior, not other types of engineers, not other regions. We may open other threads for that.
We may include Seattle, salaries seem to be almost identical to the Bay.
The numbers are total gross compensation: gross income + stocks grants vested in 1 year + SPP (stock discount) + HSA contributions + 401k matches/contributions. Money than can be cashed out or invested for retirement per year. ACTUAL MONEY THAT YOU KEEP (before taxes).
Based on other threads, this is what I conclude:
Tier 1 (Google, Facebook, Amazon, Netflix): 200k
Tier 2 (Intel, Microsoft, Nvidia, Cisco... all other big): 120k
Tier 3 (startups and small companies): 100k + un-cashable stock
Does it sound right?
