Amazon is heavier bc everyone in industry assumes you are capable of 60+ hrs of work per week and pressure.

Otherwise all things considered it’s likely a wash bc you’ll have a higher chance of good WLB at Microsoft and the name value the same. But AMZN stock is more valuable than MSFT even at today’s prices. But Amazon vesting schedule sucks bc it’s butt loaded.

At the end of the day it’s just another job 🤷‍♂️

    Depends how you learn.

If you want to be thrown in the lake and hope you swim, take Amazon.

If you want to take formal swimming lessons, take Microsoft.

True in some ways. But Microsoft culture is too laid back imo (so the right analogy would be "take formal lessons by a laid back never strict teacher who might not even show up often"). For fresh grads you can grow technically significantly faster at Amazon, all other things being equal (which they aren't so it is more complicated)

  • Honestly resume impact doesn't really matter at this level of company. We are talking about some of the biggest names in the world. Just choose the one you like better with wlb and salary
