NYC vs Bay Area for new grad

Feb 24 4 Comments

Have several offers from FAANGs in NYC and the Bay. I heard the Bay is better for tech as you network with like minded people that can eventually become future cofounders. Also the startup scene is supposedly better. However, I really value nightlife and partying with friends which is why I like NYC. Will I be at a disadvantage later if I pick NYC now? Having trouble deciding.

NYC all the way. So many successful people here from all kinds of backgrounds. I’ve also met so many current and former founders who migrated here from the Bay Area. There’s a thriving scene here too full of people who grew tired of Silicon Valley

I think it depends more on where you want to live! So many companies are still virtual or hybrid right now so lots of teams are spread out more geographically. I think the company matters much more than the Geo location (between NY and the Bay).

  • You value nightlife. That kind of disqualifies most of the Bay Area. Take NYC.
