I have a Zillow P4 senior software developer offer on a project I'm excited about, and during the interview process I got along really well with the team lead. I have 9 YOE. I was thinking about asking them to increase the base by 15%. Is this possible and should I request that or more? Their offer is ~300K which is composed of the following: Base: 175K Sign-on bonus: 45K Stock: 200K with 25% vesting in yr 1 Merit bonus: 15% Location: Seattle
What kind of role?
Senior software developer (sorry I should have specified earlier)
They told me zillow doesn’t have cash bonus. Is merit bonus stock refresher?
TC doesn't include one-time sign on
It does. 45k is at sign on. There's an additional after 1yr that I haven't included. I've updated the post to clarify
I'd say this offer is more like 175k plus expected 15% bonus of 26.25k, and 50k of stock each year. So 251.25k TC, with a one time punch of the signing bonus
Never hurts to ask. However, ZG stock has taken a big hit lately as their new business of buying houses isn’t sitting well with investors. Something to consider before you make the jump is you haven’t yet.
I'd argue that this makes the 200k of stock end up granting you more shares. Which is excellent. However, on a more national scale it seems like we're going to enter a stronger real estate dip in 1.5 years. So Zillow might not be a great company to join in the short term
