YOE 8, IC5, TC 370K. (60 hrs/week. Changed team already once, not much help) Snap L4 -> TC 380 (Not negotiable, Snap did not respect my seniority I'd say.) Zillow P5 -> TC before negotiation 350 Break downs are pretty similar to levels.fyi Have Reddit onsite lined up too (Hopefully L5). Low salary but IPO? Which one to go? Personal pref is: (Culture + WLB > TC) #snap #zillow #reddit
How did Snap not take your « seniority » seriously when it’s the highest offer?
What’s terminal level at Snap? L4 or L5?
L4 is equivalent to Facebook E5. I have 15+ yoe, got in at Snap as L5 from Facebook E6. Some peeps manage E6 to L6 but it’s not the common case. The level is just a number, doesn’t exactly match for every company.
Idk about culture, but Id think Zillow has chill WLB compared to snap. And they’re giving almost the same offer, could maybe beat snap with negotiation. But eng talent/culture prob better at snap, and probably more upside on stonks.
Zillow is public
Yeah, didn’t say otherwise
Yeah, actually it did. It says in the post "Low salary but IPO?". They have already IPO'd.
Zillow is hit and miss. Some teams have managers from failed companies like Yahoo, Nordstrom and such, and the culture could be very toxic.
Highly recommend you wait for the numbers from Reddit. They’ve updated their comp structure this year and offers are almost FANG level. Their base salary actually matches and will beat both FB and Snap (assuming ~190-200k) for sure if you get L5. At L4 it will probably match or be close. No target bonus though for either I believe. Also there is a lot of signs they are getting close to IPO (hired the original Snap CFO who took them through IPO, massive funding round, new deal with omnicom group, etc.). Also given their valuation is only 6B right now and Snap IPOd at 23B, the upside could be huge if you’re feeling adventurous and believe they have even somewhat of the same potential. Lastly, Reddit allows you to choose full remote with no pay adjustment which makes the TC even more comparable if you decide to move to a non Bay Area location.
I recently switched from msft to Zillow and WLB at Zillow is great. Fully remote, even after the pandemic. Company has core working hours of 10-2 PST that allow employees flexibility to work in different time zones or flexibility to meet their personal needs. They have an ops team so on call is sometimes business hours only, or very light
Why do you say reddit will pay lower than others? I have an onsite with them coming up, hopefully I can get an offer!
I wonder what role does OP interview for in these companies? Machine learning?
