How is Zillow dealing with covid situation. Has there been an impact on the projects people are working on. Any red flags or concerns about layoffs. TC :200
Zillow rescinded my P4 offer
Oh when was this? What did your offer look like
was this a verbal offer or a formal offer?
They're doing good so far, no layoffs or reduction in salaries, just trimmed the expenses. Good short term outlook, bad long term outlook, ceteris paribus.
We are safe for a year at least. Beyond that we don't know. We're doing the best out of all the iBuyers in terms of balance sheet. We froze hiring, with some exceptions. People who were given offers before the freeze was not supposed to have the offers rescinded. So Amazon above probably had a unique scenario.
I just heard of Redfin layoffs (7% staff). Do you see layoffs coming soon at Zillow? How has the impact been thus far? I've also just read the news of Spencer Rascoff leaving the board. I guess this was on the cards any way, but what's your read on this?

Based on what I've seen, we're shuffling priorities but there's no immediate concerns. I'm on a team that is arguably trimmable but we're discussing long term shared projects with several other groups.
+1
If engineering only priorities are changing for good. Lot of impactful projects going on that founders/CEO personally care about.
I got my offer just before covid really hit, and I started while everyone was WFH. My onboarding has been abysmal, I've spent the past 5 weeks feeling miserable about not learning or helping with anything.
I’m in the same boat. It’s been really tough. I’m mostly invisible. All of which is to say, the problem is not you. Zillow as an organization is really bad at working remotely right now. Switching jobs is already a really stressful thing. Trying to learn new and complex systems through Slack and awkward video calls is not ideal. Learning as you go when have no repertoire with your coworkers, and feel like every question is an unwelcome interruption in their work (whether or not there is truth to that) is a recipe for disaster. I believe most at Zillow understand it’s going to take a bit longer to acclimate, and won’t judge you for it. You’re probably your own worst critic. Stay strong.

I would say don’t move from Microsoft to Zillow . Microsoft has azure and ms office . Zillow is completely dependent on the current property market.
