If you get equal offers from both companies in equivalent teams (say, search, payments, mobile, etc.). Which one would you pick and why? Edit: in other words, which one is a better company?
There
Your background, yoe, engg role?
How will this change your answer?
If not it comes to perception and that differs from person to person
None. Bad move.
I’m done drinking the kool aid and dealing with such a toxic culture
Then change teams. I have been in a great team for 2+ years now, loving it every day. I honestly think that the toxic culture is not everywhere but I have definitely seen it in my previous teams.
Zillow engineering managers are horrible.
That seems untrue :)
Travel beats Real Estate, but there may be more "market" for Zillow to capture, than Expedia.
We have a toxic culture here too. All the good ppl that i know r leaving and promotions are not based on what and how u deliver. VP and Sr Directors doesnt move or rotate.
Worked at both. The assumption both offers would be comparable is a stretch.
My question really is “which is a better company”. I just want to eliminate the variable in terms of role/team
Zillow group. If you’re an engineer, avoid Expedia
Lol zillow and expedia offers wont even compare. Zillow will beat your amazon offer ez, if you are good
You are drinking from the Kool aid. Zillow was not able to even give a comparable offer
Zillow beat my amazon offer easy fyi, I dont know what you are talking about
Zillow TC are always higher, as ZG will match your other offers (including expedia and google) and expedia does not include RSU.

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager

Why would you want to join either from Amazon, it's not a good career move.
There are several reasons why one would leave Amazon, it’s not all about RSUs
But why would you not want to stay in FANG
