Hi Everyone, need some advice on the visa status issue.
Last year my employer A filled for my H1B, while it was pending approval I had to move to my current position which is a contract role so I asked my employer A to withdraw my application and start working again on an F1 visa.
Last week I got to know that the lawyers were too late to withdraw the application and my H1B got approved in October so my F1 got terminated. Now as I never worked with my H1B filing employer It did not get active too.
So for the past 4.5 months, I've been status less and I am running close to the 180 mark after which I will be in unlawful presence. My current employer told me to stop working and said they are trying to figure out if they can do anything here. Can someone share some advice on this? I just have 1 month to figure this situation out.
Thanks in advance for your time! #workvisa #h1b #f1 #f1-opt

I would say get your own immigration lawyer, don’t rely on your employer

Do you have any recommendations for a good immigration lawyer? I had a call with Murthy but that was not so helpful. They suggested I have my employer hire them and they'll handle it by filing a "Nunc pro tunc" but my employer said they will not hire someone else.

Sorry, I was never on a work visa. I just know from friends that company lawyers can mess up and it’s important to consult with someone outside the company. Good luck, I hope you can figure everything out!

Never heard of your scenario, better to talk to an immigration attorney and figure it out
