    This is the least the government can do for homeowners. I pay a shit ton in taxes and I get shit in return.

    I don't know about you but I want something back in return for my money. Or I want my money back. We can get rid of zoning laws when the government cuts taxes massively and abolishes welfare and other entitlement programs.

      Oh really? We shall see. I don’t think it’s the rich who control the city council in Seattle anymore. Soon rent control. Then end of zoning. Then legal squatting. I will always support the plight of the poor even if it may not be financially advantageous to me because I support living in a fair country.

      Too bad for the rich renters can also vote and the more of them that live in the city the easier it is to end socialism for the rich.

    No kidding. I rather enjoy knowing some jackass can’t build a used car lot, a factory, casino, or strip club next door and my kids can grow up in a peaceful neighborhood with good schools.

      That’s the risk of owning property. Maybe when risks like that are real there will be less greed in the housing market. The only factor that should ever be considered is health factors. So in this case due to health factors it would not be appropriate. However the risk someone builds a loud amusement park right next to your house should be a real risk. Their land their right.

      well i am a smart, wealthy, and well connected coal plant owner and i can convince local government that my coal plant will not adversely affect the health of your family. i will build the plant anyway

      maybe to entertain the workers i will build a gentlemans club on the other side of your house. my shipping trucks will destroy your road since they are too heavy for the residential asphalt and they can refuel at the service station i will build across the street from you
