https://apple.news/AqHfvqfH4T22VY7X5MaonuA You might not know know it, but legacy enterprise technology company Cisco is also seeing heavy-duty usage of its Zoom competitor, Webex, where Zoom CEO Eric Yuan was once vice president of engineering. Webex was founded in 1995 and acquired by Cisco in 2007, long before the Zoom initial public offering in 2019. It isn't trendy in Silicon Valley. But users don't care -- they're flocking to it anyway. ——————————————————- Not sure if im biased, I do work for cisco but certainly don’t drink the koolaid, but I was shocked at the tone of this article basically writing off webex as yesterdays news - Is zoom that much better or more desirable than webex?
Webex sucks big time!
Yep, Zoom is much much nicer.
Aside from making its response, you’re all saying it’s better but you’re not saying why. I believe you but it doesn’t help me much. I appreciate the responses but if there are any other reasons why I’d really like to know.
Much better UI, more features, better performance
There are like 10 reasons in the post only. UI performance Easy of USE Etc. Etc
Zoom has a better UI and integrates with Google so its super easy to create a meeting link
And Single sign on with Okta! Click a button to insert a video conference in outlook.
We recently moved away from WebEx. Zoom feels way better. WebEx was a nightmare to use
+1
Our public schools just started using Zoom to communicate with students. The UI is also very slick. Custom backgrounds (static and dynamic). Web ex is 🦕
Those virtual backgrounds are great.
We were a zoom shop before Cisco mandated we use WebEx. Sucks.
Yes zoom just works so well. Webex was full of bugs and glitchy.

Closed now - thank you all
we have no other choice but to use Webex... so hence the surge. if given the choice, i’d love to use zoom for work
But why? Why is it better?
Zoom works very well on low bandwidth situation with asymmetric connection. WebEx is a bandwidth hog. WebEx is terrible. As an ex user forced to use it for many years.
