for the box internship they assigned a project to make a game which at the minimum takes 8 hours because of the amount of requirements. this was after the 2 or 3 hr hackerrank we passed. and its for an internship...didnt even start it and probably not going to since i already got better offers. never been given a takehome thing that would take more than 2 hours. definitely not interested in the company anymore since a command line game with a bunch of crap features isnt at all what swes make and does not “simulate the nature of work” an intern would even do. we already did this crap when we took intro comp sci classes. very insulted. after this we still have more interviews wtf. google/fb and literally any other company i interviewed with had processes eons better than this crap
would you do something so time consuming for an internship or full time job?

So fuck them 😂
1. Facebook. Spent a whole night on it (until 3 am). Got a great offer.
2. No name startup. Was expected to do it in 3 hours but I decided to make it better so I worked on it for 3 days on and off. Got a great offer.
3. Netflix. This was an open ended project on a tight deadline. I had to finish it before my onsite, which was 2 days later. Spent 2 whole nights on it, didn’t get much sleep, was extremely tired at onsite. But I did impress them and got an offer that I’d never have dreamt of.
You have to decide how much you value this opportunity. Few hours of your time is nothing if it’ll make you happy for the next few years.
