Should I buy a car?

Happy thanksgiving :)

I am in a dilemma and looking for some advice. I live in Mountain View (transferred recently from NYC) and like to go to SF over the weekends. However, the cost of Uber/Lyft gets too much at times.

I know I am wrong when thinking like this but when I see people around me trying to save more and more all the time I don't feel like splurging on a new car :/ Further, I like to drive and wouldn't be happy with a 10-15k car. I like the Civic Type R which would cost around $40k including taxes, registration etc.

What should I do? Should I just buy the car, because YOLO? Has someone been in a similar situation, what did you end up doing?
