Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
First sorry for meta folks who lost their jobs today. Layoffs are shitty and affect regular folks more than the execs who are actually the root cause for it. Having said that however Zuck’s note is surprisingly Humane and decent. Excellent serverance, talking to a real person , access to emails and real immigration support(keeping ppl on payroll) and the overall tone of taking responsibility for the decision with a lot of I is pretty impressive. I might actually consider working for the robot billionaire at some point.
Got the right firm to write the email for him. Mommy Sandberg must have reviewed.
I'm curious, how much does the "emotion handling by the employer" part of a layoff matter to the people who got laid off, vs getting good severance package?
"might consider working for him" is such a funny way to end a post about a guy who fired 11k people cuz he fucked up
Every company fucked up. We all hired in droves thinking the good times are going to last.
PR or HR Post, another one
This seems like a combined calculated move from all companies to reduce compensation everywhere. Lowball offers coming in bulk soon
Financial part is all that matters. Fuck the company. Layoffs make you realize that it's only a legal contract between company and employee. All of the other shit is bologni
What is bologni? Sounds like some Italian ecstasy

I wonder how many top executives got the axe? Always the little folk that suffer.
Agree. Layoffs are scary regardless, but he tried to treat people like humans, plus gave generous severance. Leadership has to make hard calls sometimes. This is one of them. He did it right.
Sure it is humane. But he’s ignoring the perception problems of Meta and himself as CEO. Tim, Satya, Sundar are doing a better job of keeping the shareholders happy and ensuring the company’s priorities are right. He should ideally step down as CEO and should head some R&D wing or Metaverse org.
His ego won’t let him. He pretty sure thinks he the prodigy of technology.
^ exactly why that won’t happen lol. Maybe he’ll snap out of it so he can focus on Metaverse and let the rest of the company focus on actually making money.
Agree.. i was pleasantly surprised reading the note. And a solid severance.. but this is definitely going to be a nightmare for people on Visa given that companies are laying off in hordes and no openings at the same time.
Where's the damn note?
Its all over the internet. Also linked in some news stories.
