Blind friends, please share guidance if medical insurance is covered if there is a month gap in me leaving current company and joining new company.

Yes, by law they need to offer you cobra. You will have to pay but the prices are decent.

Cobra is a law that requires companies to offer you the opportunity to continue your current insurance plan and have similar cost when you were working with them. This includes health, vision and dental.

    Cobra typical last 18 months.

Also the cost you pay for cobra is tax deductible. So keep your receipts.

If you get laid off... Like I did, you get a severance package. You are supposed to use that to money for cobra.

Cobra is a good option but you are incorrect about the payment… you have to pay the entire amount of the health insurance including what the company pays for you.. for instance if your insurance is 1500 for family but you only pay 400 the company covers the other 1100… you will owe the whole 1500 on cobra

If you quit on the first of month, you have coverage that month - at least that is how it was at all the companies I quit

Some companies end coverage after your last day, others cover to the end of the month.

Last time I quit, I was only covered through my last day of employment.

You have a deadline to pay for cobra coverage. It’s probably well past the start of benefits at your new job. Pay for it if you find out you need it. With Obamacare laws, the days of creditable coverage certificates and preexisting conditions are over.
