What are some signs that you are about to get laid off?

(Requesting all the managers/Directors to post to increase general intelligence and help people be prepared to search for a new role) #severance #layoff

(Please feel free to post signs that you are about to be PIP’ed as well)

When you get invited to an unexpected Zoom meeting and your laptop shuts-off halfway through it.

When the CEO wearing a Patagonia vest invites you a zoom meeting and your laptop shuts off at the end. Before the CEO even starts speaking, he talks about how hard it is to do this and used to cry doing it.

  • Has anyone not known before you were laid off?! I feel as though the writing is on the wall. If I have to repeatedly tell you there's a problem and spend extra amounts of time with you than normal or suddenly setup daily catch-up meetings with just you for a few minutes...that's a red flag. If your last perf review had too many opportunities for improvement' that's a red flag. If your a steady Eddie and your line and day to day is just doing exactly what's asked of u and nothing more and u aren't growing...the door is coming.

I needed a job and they called me πŸ˜ƒ
I know that Comcast does work with a lot of companies outside US, but I've never seen them move entire team overseas.

But yeah, when you think about logically, it makes sense. It really sucks though when you are the one getting replaced...

Literally most workers are steady eddies. How do you just expect everyone to constantly improve if the work is the same? It makes zero sense to get rid of a good employee thats doing the work.

@NoDrama, no need to be worried yet. But definitely put time on the calendar if you find time and ask how things are going and what you could do better. It will give you a pulse on how things are going. Try and set these up bi weekly (or once a month after you get a good pulse of things)

One of the things I do 3 months into a new gig is to plan and 1 on 1 with my manager and ask him how things are going and how I am doing with the team.
