What are my option now? I have details like receipt number, A number, Priority Date from the email notification received from Fragomen. I havent received digital copy of I-140 yet.

Reason for leaving: Was tired of waiting for the PERM/I-140 process. Was postponig my joining date from 4 months now.

I read that I can get the approval copy from USCIS. What are my other options to get it after leaving Amazon?

  • No employer will give the physical I-140 copy - you will only get a soft copy. If you do not have that you can submit a FOIA request - it will take 30~ days for USCIS to process it and you will get your entire I-140 petition - that’s all you’ll need.

Thank you for your reply. I will learn more about this process. I also updated post details. I do not have digital copy just the details on email from Fragomen.

Option 1 - Send email to Fragomen case worker asking for the details
Option 2 - File a FOIA request immediately
    Proceed with both the options

  • There is only soft copy of I140 approval. There is no hard copy

  • Just file the FOIA request - it only takes 15 mins and is really easy I did it for myself. Create USCIS profile and the steps and self explanatory.

  • If you had the I-140 approved for more than 180 days you can keep it for sure. Earlier and there’s a chance the employer will withdraw it, and it’s lost.

If you still have access to your Connect account, a soft copy is likely available to you in the Documents Section under the name: I-140 Approval Notice (may depend on your company’s policies). Do this quickly as your account/case will close eventually. If that does not work. you should just email and ask for it. 95% of the time former employers are nice and will give it to you. Very spiteful when they don’t give it.

If none of those work, explain the situation to your new lawyer up front. They will file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request for you. Might slow down your case a bit, but shouldn’t be a real problem.
