You are an utter douche.
Anyone know why people do this?
Narcissim? Missing your old workplace?

I've used LinkedIn Recruiter. They see your past work experience on search results pages, your "headline" is almost meaningless.

It increases visibility and sometimes helps you when hunting for job.
, most of the recruiters search for popular firms so if you have the company name somewhere in your bio, your profile appears in search results.

No you've got it all wrong.

If you search for people that work at a company then it will never consider header, just the experience section.

But I am talking about search results and suggestions.

When you see search results of people's faces and names, there is also their headers. So you search for people who works at google currently and you will get a bunch of people, their faces and headers like:

"CS student @ NYU" (this person never updated header)
      "Software Engineer at Google"
      "SWE at Google"
      "Software Engineer @ Google"
"SWE @ Google Docs (Backend Infra), Ex-Piedpiper, Ex Hooli"

      See the difference? Quick summary.

Same thing with when you are seeing one person's profile and it suggests other similar people on the right. My header makes it clear with a mini resume.

Lastly, honestly I didn't really think hard about how recruiters search. Just thought of it from my own perspective as I add random people. Yes I am one of those people with 500+ connections and adds everyone possible.
