hello all

hope all of you staying safe in this troubled time of covid

I am a rising senior majoring in cs. I came back to school after working 5 years as gis specialist at exxon and I am trying to find a good way to wrap this experience on my resume in a way that - it shows the perspective of professionalism, soft skills and leaderships etc since I don't really have much of achievements that I can present in numbers in terms of software engineering although I do have some achievements that I can explain in words and maybe during an interview.

I have found that this is actually quite tricky since i don't want my previous experience to be lengthy but will still have to explain in words if i really wanna include it.

What kind of things should I focus on for utilizing the experience for software engineering jobs?

thanks for your time and advice

  • No need to stress about spinning it, it is what it is and people can assess its relevancy without you blabbering about it. Focus on projects, leetcode, and getting real world experience.
