I'm collecting info for potential expatriation for places like Tokyo, Zurich, and London.

According to friends of friends:
- Zurich is the highest paid office, with new grads getting a base of 130k
- Google Tokyo pays its L4s a base of 120k

Some people allege that Indeed Tokyo TC starts at 150k, which is hard to believe cause it implies they're on par with Google?

Any other companies that I should know about with competitive comp? (3 yoe)

It’s not negative, I actually offered to move my family there for the biz. The Japanese are almost uniformly the most honest (in social or non business interactions) and awesome people you’ll ever find. I love them. I love Japan. I lived there for a couple of years in the 80s and have spent a couple of weeks there each year for the past four years. I’m just cautioning you that there’s a bit of a dark side which may or may not bother you. You may not even notice some of it (the depressingly monotonous dress and work culture) until you go elsewhere in Asia (Seoul for instance) and see “salaryman” that wear a blue suit instead of the Japanese uniform. I’d move there in a second, but you have to be senior enough to put ground rules in place or you’ll get ground into dust like the Japanese tend to.

You know what stands out in this picture?

Indeed Tokyo starts at around 90-110K for L1 which is equivalent of L3 at Google. For L2 at Indeed its around 130-160K, which is around L4 at Google. So they're roughly at par.

Indeed pays 10M-20M JPY per annum based on the experience level. Do note that income tax is quite high there. AFAIK Indeed is the only company paying that much. Amazon pays a lot less (approx 10M for SDE 2)

Thanks for the tip. I've got 3yoe and a TC of almost 200k. What would those places likely offer?

They won't care about your USA TC. They will instantly lowball you with the lie saying that CoL in Tokyo is cheaper. Laugh and ask them how much do they pay for a kilo of cherries, or 1000sqft apartment.
Indeed would probably offer you 13M JPY, others would be less likely less than that.

If you are Indian London may be the best place to go to. You may regret going to Tokyo, particularly if you are married.

Those places are very different from Bay Area

Actually the indeed number could be true, I heard similar rumor from multiple sources and given that companies like Mercari also pay in that ballpark it could be true. Google could be more conservative
