Logistics and supply chain based start up in San Diego area. Just cleared OA and going to talk to recruiter. Any reviews about culture, pay, ipo hopes, interview experience? Currently 0 posts about the company in blind as far as I searched. TC 190K #flockfreight
Pretentious founders and leaders
What is the latest on this? Anyone have any new experiences with Flock Freight?
I have an onsite tomorrow. So far has been a pretty good experience. Not entirely sure about TC and leveling. Will have to wait and see if I clear and get an offer.
Did you clear the interview? What was your experience? Can you share details? I had my virtual onsite a week ago, and haven’t heard anything yet. Is that normal?
No. I was rejected. Wouldn’t have mattered either way. Most of my interviews were okay except for systems deep dive, which was super weird. I work at Spotify, which is very micro service driven and and some of the pieces I built spanned across a ton of components. The interviewer wanted to tech deep dive into one component, but was confused seeing so many boxes in the picture that I showed. They were not interested nor enthusiastic to learn about what I architected. So that was the main reason. I would say from my experience, it seems like you might bump into a few engineers who have mostly worked in smaller companies and are not aware of the practices in some of the bigger companies. So might be good to check with them on what they want to know, rather than having a predefined script. For system design, the focus was more on data modeling and getting the product requirements modeled accurately. There was no focus on scalability or any such thing. It’s not the typical FAANG system design.
Quick question for you. How does leveling work there? I see so many Staff Engs.. is that an L5 equivalent or L6 in scope? What do you think about growth opportunities?
Another question, if you don’t mind me asking. Do you see atleast a 4x-5x growth of the company value in the next 4 years? Have a very strong offer for L5 from one of the FAANGs. Assessing the risk in letting that go and joining.
Just wanted to share my 2 cents.. I got rejected lol.. but maybe a couple of pointers if anyone was looking to join there: For system design the focus is more on getting the requirements right and designing the data model/schema accurately for those. There was not a lot of discussion on really scaling the system as typical FAANGs. Coding question was oop/design based The system deep dive is more focused on a component with complex requirements, rather than how many components interact with one another in a complex system. In most of the other interviews, I gave an overview of a complex system and .demystified it and it worked. Unfortunately didn't work here. Got rejected, since I failed to demystify these themes that were expected. Hope it helps somebody else :) . They seem a pretty competitive company, willing to hire good talent.
Anyone actually get an offer from these guys? And I'm assuming there are Leetcode-style questions being asked at some point. Can anyone shed some light on those?
Can someone share details on the technical interview prior to the onsite? I have mine this week. They've given the details: In this practical, real-world coding assessment, we present requirements for a small system that you will design and implement, so on... They also mentioned being able to look up API documentation. Given that I'm applying to a full-stack role coming from a JS background, I'm guessing that it'll be building an API service. The IDE environment they use only allows for use of one file/module, so any tips on how to "design" within this constraint would be very helpful!

Incompetent recruiters. Missed our calls several times. Refused to interview in any language other than Java even though I had stated my preferred languages before hand. Did not tell me the result until one month later. Not that I wanted to join anyway…
Oh that's a bad experience. For me recruiter call went fine.. Hoping nothing bad happens in phone screen
