Has anyone been to Alaska during thanksgiving? what are the chances of seeing northern lights and what kind of activities can be done?
I've been to Alaska several times during the summer. It was a great experience everywhere I went. That said, I'd be wary of going around Thanksgiving. It'll be cold, dark, and lot of tourist stuff will likely be closed since it's out of season.
Can you share your itinerary during summer? Thanks!
What about a northern lights cruise ?
If you want to see Northern Lights, take the road trip from Fairbanks to Coldfoot. Many companies offer this tour, Try and stay there for a couple of nights at least during the new moon(which is 2days before Thanksgiving) as the weather can be cloudy.
Drive or fly north to Fairbanks, will be ur best shot to see NL
November would be very cloudy. I would suggest Jan to Mar time frame. Take a week off because it will still be cloudy few days a week. Look for various festivals around Fairbanks. Also, these days it costs same to go to Iceland.
Alaska is one of the nicest state, going to see the northern light and milky way is worth the trip.
