need help in making sense of this and get fresh perspective. this brown guy with extraordinary tech career was hired to run product and engineering team at a series B startup less than 50 people. he hired a bunch of senior industry experienced folks (diverse group) to run Data science team, Product Design etc. the cofounder and his friends who were barely shipping much features for 4+ years decided to unionize and threaten to sue the company because they think they need to be heads of everything since they have been at the company longer. they think everybody hired after them should report to them the CEO told the union they cant be fired till this matter gets investigated. but it took 2+ months. in 2+ months these guys derailed every project and made the brown exec’s life miserable since he wasnt told these guys are holding the company hostage. the CEO panicked and fired the brown guy. now the union didnt include any of the colored people on the team and was just hostile towards them. so by design or not, the company has a union of white people who didnt want a brown boss and who wont work with colored people. what!?!? is this real!?! how is this ok? do VCs really want to fund startups with aggressive unions?? #racism #union #tech #exec
These union people have on numerous occasions refused to interview black people. I know how crazy this sounds and thats why im putting it out there
Horrible. Act of white supremacy.
Plot twist: OP is that brown exec.
What are you to this person and how does this concern you. Understand the frustration but write with proper grammar
Not concerned with injustice unless it's someone close to you. Awesome
What's the company? Spill it
I’m one of the employees who was among all the non-union folks and have been asked to be remote till this is resolved. But its been weeks And the union folks have created an unwelcome workplace and we’re just on a pause. No work is being done. Would this company survive? Have you seen this happen before?
Did america survive after Operation Wetback? Yes it did, then it flew to the moon and invented computers to start the current Information Age.
What's the company name? Was there any media coverage? What you're saying is pretty serious thing. Sorry, OP, but I just don't buy it that ~50 people just lost their minds.
You said yourself they banded together because they were early employees not wanting to walk away from leadership positions. There is nothing to indicate that you being brown, teal, cyan, or any other color has anything to do with this other than that they happen to be white 🤦♂️
This is what happens when race-baiting becomes the norm in public discourse. Everything is about race, and everybody is racist. People lose their minds

“Colored people” wtf? You’re the racist
Omg yeah, they should have said "people of color" what are they thinking????
The word colored is not offensive in many non-American English dialects. I would assume the OP may be Indian/South Asian from the context and that they aren't using the word "colored" in the way an old school white Southerner would have, which is racist.
