amazon Rsu’s stockplan questions??? please help...

Mar 8, 2020 5 Comments

first time selling my rsu’s... please help...I sold my amazon rsu’s through the stockplan connect system. now my cash is lying in thst system.

If I need to buy stocks using that cash, could i buy it from the same account?

Do i need to open a morgan stanley account or fidelity to purchase shares..

could I transfer the cash to my husbands fidelity account & purchase the stocks from thst sccount? would transferring cash from stockplan account to his fidelity cause any tax issues?

whats the best strategy does couples use so that all transactions are happening from one account?

Transfer the cash to any broker other than Robinhood, they are all good. MS sucks.

Transferring cash doesn't have a tax implication so long as you are at least joint on the account. If you transferred it to you husband's account but you weren't joint there that could trigger some gift tax treatment.

If you're "married filing jointly" it shouldn't matter anyway but I think best if you get yourself added as an account holder.

    • Thanks, isn’t our 401k moving from vanguard to fidelity. Can I use the same fidelity account or I still need to open it?

You can use the same Fidelity login credentials but technically you need to open a separate account. It's a few clicks to do that. You'll then see both the 401k and your own trading account when you log in to Fidelity.
