i have my interview with amazon alexa in boston this month, and my recruiter said that level placement would be based on system design. I was unclear what level of position i was interviewing for, but it seems the suggestion is all interviews are the same and if i do super well/less well on design this will determine level? this confused me a bit, but does it sound about right? They're using Alexa for interviews now? Sheesh
Hahahahaha
I don't know why recruiters bait unnecessarily like this. You're gonna be L4 op
I had a recruiter call me for a TPM role and she kept repeating a 100 times that if I don’t know system design I should move forward. I told her I’ve a MS in Comp Sci but still wouldn’t believe me. I guess they really want to see you have fundamentals correct? I don’t know why a HR person needs to chomp my brain on that either
It seemed weird that they grilled me about it. Like I can do system design. But they didn’t tell me me anything that indicated it would be different form L4-L100000 except system design. I know this isn’t true, but I wanted to know the layout. I got “technicals, behavioral, system design. We make level decisions based on design.” That’s kind of esoteric
Yea: for me the recruiter was almost implying that if I can’t do system design then I can’t be a TPM. I know how to do it, but as a TPM it’s not my job to do it. I felt it was odd too
How did you interview go? I have one soon. I can use some help!
Based on your YOE the decision will probably be between L5 or L4.
