I did my Chime onsite interview for Amazon SDE3. Got reply today where the recruiter said that the team had good feedback for me and she hoped they would hire me, but they decided to go in another direction. She wrote 3 lines detailing the good feedback.
What the heck does that mean?
Is this anything related to Covid or plain simple rejection? I had done really good in all interviews. I would normally take this as rejection but her email repeatedly putting good feedback got me confused. She even apologized at end of email.

The recruiter is shitty for confusing you with a mixed feedback - ask how long until you can re-interview, and if they say anything less than 12 months, it verifies that it was a ‘not inclined’ overall decision, but it was a close call - this happens a lot when candidates show conflicting data points (i.e. 3 people were inclined but 2 people were not inclined) and the debrief went in a ‘not inclined’ direction for a million reasons, the main one being that no one felt compelled enough to convince the naysayers that you must be hired. The recruiter’s just trying to (ineffectively) hint that it was a close call & that you should try again (trying to keep you in their pipeline), cuz when it’s a close call, you could yield a positive outcome with a different set of interviewers.
As far as waiting period is considered, I havent asked her. But Amazon recruiters as well as hiring mgrs keep reaching me out every 3 months for the past 2 years.
Even now, I wasnt looking for a change. But just gave one phone interview to see if I am rusty or good. I cleared the phone interview but I declined their onsite since it turned out to be Mobile dev team. Thats when I was patched to another recruiter who forwarded me to Amazon AI team - I did direct onsite Chime for them.
There I got this feedback.
