Got one direct reports from Intel, 15+ years experience, gush, don’t even know where to start. I guess Intel masked too much for their employees, they have no idea what’s been running after the curtain. And apparently Intel has most layback culture, the very first thing he asked me one year ago is: can we delay the schedule here? How the hell HR gave him 200+ base? Totally a waste of money compared to some 3 years experience guy in the team.

We got so many ppl from Intel that they destroyed our culture. All of them just fight in meetings. What killed me is their attitude: let us teach you kids ;) I think good ppl are motivated to stay inside.

I was once told that it was common for Andy Grove to climb the desk during the meetings and shout to prove his point. So I guess I suspect where this culture is from.

Andy Grove literally wrote the book on OKRs. So you're welcome? I think you can trace also stack ranking back to Intel also since Intel preceded MS.

      OP
1 year after Intel’s new CEO, intel lay-off all their engineer and start selling patterns. Oh, sorry, they don’t even have that many patents like Qualcomm do...

Lmfao. Have you heard of someone who got a promotion after working 20hrs per week? Well it is possible at intel. Source:me.

Its all about politics dude. My best strategy is to setup meetings between two people that already know what they are doing. And act as if i am helping them out. Worked all the time.

I value work ethic but I’ll overlook this because of the mega balls and strategic thinking

I agree. I’ve seen so many directors and senior managers climb the ranks using this approach. It also helps if you’re a smooth talker, charismatic, and know enough if the jargon that you can hold your own in a meeting.

Fun fact, the founder of Leetcode, Winston Tang, started as a Graphics SWE at Intel, but GTFO after one year (later went to Amazon and then Google).
