analytics and insights -- total comp

All the threads and levels.fyi data is geared toward software engineer. Can't find good benchmarks for analytics and insights. Here are my bullets Fang most of my career 8y fang 6y pre fang L6 at Amazon Business analyst/data science type roles (not advanced machine learning) Small time people manager experience Currently ~$450k total comp. IMO I'm overpaid although I'm also very good at what I do. Curious what else we have here...

Why do you think you’re overpaid? Is 450k your target compensation, or is it just what you’re getting from stock growth?

Amazon xgxa OP Dec 24, 2019

Because... I remember 10 years ago I used to think $150k was a lot. Now I'm just flabbergasted that I can make this much while not running a big team or being a software engineer. $450k is my current -- base, bonuses and stock. Mostly cash.

How can it be mostly cash? Doesn’t amazon have a salary cap?

hey op i’m a recent grad that’s just a BI analyst for a small company in the midwest TC ~ 60k. if you don’t mind me asking, what we’re crucial moves you made that allowed you to get to where you are? i believe me just living in the midwest gives me a terrible chance at even landing a job at a FANG

Getting into big tech is part location, part network. Meet people so you can get a real referral (not through blind but irl). Expand your technical skills every single day. Become the best data analyst at your company. Be good to people around you. Get away from your desk. Build your business acumen. Don't be just a data analyst; think about business strategy. Simplify, don't complexify. I have so much where this came from

Reduce 25% for data science. 40-60% for business analytics

Where do you get that from ??
