just found out the company ive been at for a week hired me for their diversity quota and i am being paid $50,000 less than all the other new grads wtf
How do you know it’s for “diversity quota” 🙄. Sounds like you negotiated poorly. Businesses will pay the least amount possible, you need to be firm.
Are the new grads saying their TC versus your base pay? That could account for the 50k difference. RSUs or sign ons.
There are companies with standard paygrades that pay everybody roughly the same within the level, then there are companies that ask your current salary and pay as low as they can for each employee. Work for the former and quit the later. Good companies know that taking full advantage of employee’s ignorance and underpaying severely is counterproductive, because people invariably find out then leave. That’s why they have standard grades, so they’ll pay what they think you’re worth, even if it’s higher than what you think you’re worth.
And even if it's lower than what you think / know the market will pay.
They’re not perfect. If a standard paygrade company fails to pay the market rate, it’s usually because you have worked there a while and not gotten enough raise and/or promotion. In that case, time to move on.
What is your race/gender?
Race?
Irrelevant. Had nothing to do with race.

Companies will typically only pay you what it'll cost to replace you, and there could be many extenuating circumstances why you're paid less than your colleagues. For example, your colleagues could have had more desirable experience, more valuable skills, and /or had better competing offers.
All the new grads they hired only had retail jobs prior to joining. I on the other hand I have 2 years experience and have I am training about 3 of them on my team.
What industry? what role? Location? Graduates of what exactly?
