Is anyone at cap one? if yes, what’s your opinion working for them? salary, personal growth, benefits, culture etc.

I have an interview coming up in the DC area.

It’s a great company to work for. The best 401k I have seen, useful stock purchase plan and yearly bonus based on performance. Also an environment that develops growth, personally and professionally. I also like the extremely low membership fee for gym that is within campus with 2 personal training sessions a week free.

Yes, I can vouch for this. Highly depends on the team though.

If you’re young, I’d advise you to go somewhere else. You won’t learn much during your time there

Haha sounds like your previous company was also a “tech” company like C1 or you’re just lucky you’re in a good team. either way good for you! You’re still underpaid :P

There's so many shills on here pushing that C1 career growth kool-aid, but it's all lip service

+1 on watching out for low-ball offers. I let them talk me into one because they really sold the fact I'd be mentored and grow a lot. Don't believe any of it. It was the same shit, different company. Everyone was too busy and I was left to figure out everything on my own. Everything else was great though, would've definitely stayed if it wasn't for that.

The offered me a pay package I had 10 years ago. It was pathetic.

Friend worked there and had very good WLB, work from home >=2 days a week, only thing was crappy managers (but that can happen anywhere) and lower pay than tech companies.

    Here's the breakdown:
They'll put in 3% no matter what.
If you put in 3% they'll also match that.
If you put in another 3% they'll also match half of it
In total, if you put in 6% they'll put in 7.5%

The best compnay I ever worked with. Amazing work life balance. Amazing work. Great technical leadership. It's the only company out of 7 I have worked so far which does care about it's employees. I learnt so much in my 10 months career and each work of mine got noticed and appreciated by management. If I ever want to go back to any company, it will be capital one. Only negative thing is they are not paymaster and for more money I quit them and I am regretting it pretty bad.

I’m thinking of making the switch to Microsoft. May I ask you for what reasons do you regret leaving c1?

I had full autonomy over what tech I can use. Management was tech savvy and they had an excellent roadmap. And boy swags parties team events were in abundance. So much of care for employees, in Microsoft middle management is dumb and they know very little and force me to their 40 year old thinking. Any new idea is discouraged, and Microsoft is frugal to the core. Only good part is little more money but I was saving better in Richmond.

I don't think this is a generous 401K offer then. With 3% immediate vest, it's actually subpar. I currently get 4% immediate and we are much smaller than Capital One.

I was surprised to see positive reviews for C1 on blind... honestly couldn’t tell if the first few comments were sarcastic. I generally like my role (in Card), while some of my friends in what was formerly shared tech (think internal tools) complain about their teams much more often than I do. Benefits are pretty great as mentioned above, pay isn’t high but decent for DC area. Definitely a good place for manager+, but I have to agree depending on the team young engineers might not learn a whole lot

Wow what an honor to get a reply from our lord and savior desu
And to answer your question, no they just broke it up into many pieces and no one says “shared tech” anymore except the old timers, but they slack domain is still called shared tech

If u want to join capital one ONLY join if the team is from Card. C1’s money generating department is Card hence we’ll funded organization = better promotion, more fun event, better management and etc....

Again ONLY join if ur team is under Card!!!
