Is anyone at cap one? if yes, what’s your opinion working for them? salary, personal growth, benefits, culture etc. I have an interview coming up in the DC area.
The best compnay I ever worked with. Amazing work life balance. Amazing work. Great technical leadership. It's the only company out of 7 I have worked so far which does care about it's employees. I learnt so much in my 10 months career and each work of mine got noticed and appreciated by management. If I ever want to go back to any company, it will be capital one. Only negative thing is they are not paymaster and for more money I quit them and I am regretting it pretty bad.
I’m thinking of making the switch to Microsoft. May I ask you for what reasons do you regret leaving c1?
I had full autonomy over what tech I can use. Management was tech savvy and they had an excellent roadmap. And boy swags parties team events were in abundance. So much of care for employees, in Microsoft middle management is dumb and they know very little and force me to their 40 year old thinking. Any new idea is discouraged, and Microsoft is frugal to the core. Only good part is little more money but I was saving better in Richmond.
What's their match for 401k?
What they have told me it is 1:1.25. 6% would come to 7.5% on their end.
That is generous.
Here's the breakdown: They'll put in 3% no matter what. If you put in 3% they'll also match that. If you put in another 3% they'll also match half of it In total, if you put in 6% they'll put in 7.5%
Believe me, that adds up really fast
Beware of lowball offers.
New grad interview was pretty straight forward(much easier then big 4), best of luck, I interviewed last month for them( got an offer )
Friend worked there and had very good WLB, work from home >=2 days a week, only thing was crappy managers (but that can happen anywhere) and lower pay than tech companies.
“Only thing”
If you’re young, I’d advise you to go somewhere else. You won’t learn much during your time there
Wow ... Interns in my team were doing amazing job in creating terraform.and chef magic making full automation of cloud deployment ... Don't know which capital one you worked for
That sounds like something you can learn anywhere.. don’t know which capital one you worked for
+1 on watching out for low-ball offers. I let them talk me into one because they really sold the fact I'd be mentored and grow a lot. Don't believe any of it. It was the same shit, different company. Everyone was too busy and I was left to figure out everything on my own. Everything else was great though, would've definitely stayed if it wasn't for that.
The offered me a pay package I had 10 years ago. It was pathetic.
It’s a great company to work for. The best 401k I have seen, useful stock purchase plan and yearly bonus based on performance. Also an environment that develops growth, personally and professionally. I also like the extremely low membership fee for gym that is within campus with 2 personal training sessions a week free.
Wow. That sounds great. Thank you
Yes, I can vouch for this. Highly depends on the team though.
