i have 2 yoe, graduated from top 3 canadian school, should be eligible for tn as i studied comp eng and am a canadian citizen just curious whether it is even worth applying to any non-faang jobs though, i have to check the “requires sponsorship” box so my application just gets mixed in with all the applicants from china/india for anyone who has done this outside of through intern/new grad programs, what is the best way to navigate this? just send out as many apps as possible? is the response rate super low?
It’s pretty easy on tn for almost 10 years now. As easy as local candidates. Only issue is switching jobs you need to cross border. Your degree should be under allowed tn jobs

Don’t check the “required visa sponsorship” box. Canadians are a unique case and you’re likely to be treated more as a US applicant than a foreign one, since the TN process is so straightforward
This. If you check the box you won't pass the basic resume scan. After you talk to the recruiter and they ask you if you need sponsorship, expain that "TN is really a status that you can get at the border as long as you have an offer, and doesn't require sponsorship like a visa does". Try to apply to big companies though because they will pay for TN pre-processing, so you will be pre-approved before you have to pack up your entire life and find out the immigration agent was having a bad day and decided to hold you up for 4 hours before letting you through. Much less stress and super easy with pre-approval.
Yep that’s exactly how I explained it to recruiters and all of them accepted it. I have heard though that pre-approval can take weeks or even months to process, which can delay your start date, so my company just prepared a giant list of documents for me to bring to the border.
