as a woman, have you experienced sexual harassment at work?

was talking to a friend and she told me she left her job because of (hidden and indirect) harassment. She is attractive and has experienced it at almost every company she has worked at .

My friends in journalism experienced sexual harassment. None of my friends in tech have so far.

Tell your tech friends to steer clear of Andy Rubin

People seem to forget that sexual harassment also happens to women from other women. I've been told so many times that I would do better/get taken more seriously if i wore prettier clothes or did my hair/makeup.... by other women! >:(

Lol how is that harassment?? Or even sexual 🧐

Facebook TioAzul Dec 5, 2019

That's not sexual harrassment. Men get the same advice, but not as frequently. (If your job is externally visible, or broadly visible within a company, someone will tell you this at some point)

I started to think that the range of what's considered a sexual harassment varies by person. The most recent example is the comment above. I wouldn't consider someone's comment like that to be specifically a sexual harassment. Somewhat dumb comment - yes, lack of diplomacy - very much, absence of basic common work protocols - that too. But not a sexual harassment really. I get asked out at work, but I don't consider it to be really inappropriate. People always done it in a very polite way and didn't make me feel uncomfortable. Recently had a female colleague coming to my office and asking a suggestion: one of our peers told her that he couldn't recognize her once she started to wear dresses more often. It took me some time to understand what exactly she's trying to ask me, and only then I realized she felt it was very inappropriate of him to tell so. This just made me think that people might have different level of sensitivity, because I wouldn't even notice that comment.

Oh yes. I worked for a company where I was told how fuckable I was based on the heels I wore. I sat facing a window and a particular man liked to corner me in the break room to tell me he wondered what people on the other side of the window saw when I sat with my legs uncrossed. Bonus for the men: had a female manager who put press on nails on men during "team bonding" activities to make them squirm. She delighted in this. This was a company that made an Enterprise product most of us have to use on one time or another. They got bought by a three letter entity a while ago.

Men experience sexual harassment too. Due to brainwashing by SJWs, women are more likely to interpret everyday friction as gender discrimination.

Google fl:ex Dec 5, 2019

If SJWs brainwash women into believing everyday “friction” is gender discrimination... then who is brainwashing men into thinking they experience sexual harassment?

Seagate toti420 Dec 5, 2019

Utter bullshit. Most women have been hit on (by creeps like you) probably since they were 12. They can sense harassment from a mile away. What the fuck is “everyday friction?” You’re a moron.

Ranveer, I had a (very short) job as a sprinkler repairman. My boss made comments like: "you guys get so dirty, it is ok if you take your shirts off" or "I used to have a guy work for me, we used to (redacted) until he left for school, he still had girlfriends so it doesn't make you gay", "would you ever consider (redacted) after work"

I’m a man and have been harassed at work. I’m about average looking, but even so, in my early 20s, a 40-something divorcee doggedly pursued and harassed me for years even though I told her to stop because I was happily married and not interested. It didn’t stop until she left the company.

Bose haITried OP Dec 5, 2019

So most women have been harassed but most men dont know women that have been harassed

Lol, yea, we aren’t counting less than a fraction of 1%

My husband works in healthcare, harassed all the time sexually, he explains to me it doesn't bother him because there is no power dynamic, nobody going to rape him, and it's usually peer or lower. I am not saying getting raped at work is a likely thing, but the flash of fear when somebody majorly crosses the line is real for us when our livelihood and sexual autonomy threatened in the same breath.
