It was always doomed just like Uber’s - these are money intensive tasks - and as a public company you cannot fool easily.
It's not about being public, more so about being profitable than anything else.
I don't understand why they would hire the talent costing a ton and invest so much money when they never had a chance of catching the 10 year lead waymo had, plus deep learning expertise, plus infrastructure. What a dumb investment
Any take on when will Denso and Toyota come around regarding their investment in Uber ATG?

I interviewed at Lyft L5 along with quite a few other self driving car companies. I think Lyft L5 is not only behind Waymo; they are way behind much smaller but focused self driving companies like Cruise, Argo, Aurora, etc. Lyft has teamed up with Waymo in Phoenix and Aptiv in Las Vegas; so definitely they are exploring other options as well. Also I was surprised to see folks in director role at Lyft L5 running a team of 30-40 people with having only 1-2 years industry experience (even though just number of years of experience is not the best indicator of one’s capabilities).
Agreed. When you are director, you need to be able to set direction for technical goals, approach, engineering culture and grow people. This doesn't happen in two years. I don't understand how these two year directors and engineering managers came to be.
What role did you interview for?
