I’m getting a super lucrative offer to join a smaller sized company in Seattle. Their engineering culture will be worse than Amazon’s (based on what I hear).

I’m relatively new to the field so confused on what to do.

Current TC: 190k
Current Level: SDE 2
Current YOE: 1.5

Offered TC: 250k
Offered Level: SDE 2 equivalent

Should I chase learning (joining an AWS Infra team) or TC?

I’m super tempted to jump on the offer since it’s a huge increase over my current pay.

Learning is often a super nebulous and subjective thing. Projects change, managers change, what you learn now may be totally irrelevant for your next job. TC though is one of the few things that's very concrete and unambiguous unless it's mostly paper money.

TC difference is really small during early career. The difference between the most paying L3/L4 and least paying is like at most 100k a year. However, after L5, TC becomes important.

You're likely to have more ownership and progress faster in your career at a smaller company. It's not a sure thing, of course, but I'd go with the smaller company
