You get a travel budget for your trip, which includes flights and hotels. It's calculated automatically by route and time, etc.
You can decide how to spend it between flights and hotels. And you can also save some for future trips

What is the budget usually like? Can it actually afford business + decent hotel or is it more like fly economy + crappy hotel a few times to save save up for one business trip

    • (Xoogler) depends on the org. Company policies usually allow for mid-range hotels in major cities, nice hotels in others. Greater than N miles means you can do economy plus, and they have previously encouraged that practice, especially for customer facing meetings.

Some orgs are budget restricted and will squeeze out ever last penny by shaming you into as cheap as possible travel (previously CorpEng and Enterprise, prior to cloud rebranding)

Travel budget which is usually enough for a decent seat. If you use less you can save half the savings for a different expense/trip.
I.e fly economy and have an awesome room
