I’m working and living at Detroit area but I’m going to negotiate the new offer at LA, CA area with one of medical device companies. Im wondering how much salary for us to live at LA area such as buying house, foods and car. Should I take this offer. Thank you very much for any reply

Medtronic or Abbott? With that base, you can do good in SFV.

SFV is San Fernando Valley which is north of LA, part of LA county.

    • I can choose to work at San Jose or LA. Is it ok to have comfortable life at these areas and is it worth to relocate to San Jose or LA area? Thanks

LA sucks lol. There's a reason most of the workers drive 4 hours a day and live in the suburbs surround the metropolitan area.

Most of the schools in the city are gang schools with metal detectors and dress codes that don't allow colored shirts because of gang affiliation.

What area (city) in LA? Any kids (school district)?

    • It really depends on the city. If you can, come take a look! Santa monica would be tight but Inglewood may not (while both can be pretty different in terms of quality of life)

Yeah, it really depends on the specific city. LA area is huge and you also need to factor in commute time - are you willing to sit in LA traffic for more sqft? Depending on the areas, home price could go from $800k - $2mm or more. If you let us know where the office is located and ideal commute time, we can provide better stats.

  • Where is the office located. LA is a large area. You generally want to live close to where you live, but there are bang/buck areas around if you are willing to commute. 190k is generally ok for most middle class areas.
