Just had a phone call with my recruiter at fb, they original wanted set me up for e4 / e5 loop, but I said I'm targeting for e6, so they said they'll put me down for e5 interview so I'll have a chance to get e6.

In reality, suppose I do aced the interviews, is the chance of getting an e6 offer large? Top MS + 4yoe at Google. I actually will not accept a fb e5 offer.

    4yoe is not e6 for an external hire...

    Even a fresh grad can't make E6 in 4 years...

    Lol the entitled lot. I feel E6 hiring at meta (and certainly bootcamp selection) is very conservative. You will absolutely get hammered even if you make it through. The fact that you think you can survive by just working hard shows you are not ready. It's a heavy leadership role and if you are about 2 years away at google, most certainly you are not ready for surviving as E6 at fb.

      Yes, sadly you are at diminishing returns stage where simply switching jobs won't get you tc bump. Think ahead. You will absolutely not be able to get E7 equivalent positions as E6 even if you reached max E6 comp. Now is the time to stay at one place and actual start delivering.       How do you know everything your team's E6 is doing? One of the biggest roles as E6 is to create enough scope for the team. In other words, can you create work for 2-3 E5 TLs on your team? If not you are most likely not ready for a 6

    I wouldn't recommend start at FB with e6. Moving from g L5, you are likely gonna have a tough time surviving.

    It is possible. I got E6 at FB with PhD+4YOE. Was an L6 in Amazon prior to that. You need to be very well prepared for system design interviews, as well as behavioral interviews. Especially talking about your leadership experience and conflict resolutions.

      Thanks for sharing! I heard that for e6 the phone interview is behavioral while for e5 it's just coding. So did you do a coding phone interview, then in the follow-up e6 interview it's behavioral?

      OP I interviewed for a research role, so in these roles the phone interview is more like a "prior experience discussion" interview. Then I had a loop with 2 coding, 2 system design, and 1 behavioral, and as a follow-up I did additional 2 interviews: behavioral and system design, where they specifically looked for E6 signals.
