I spoke to an Amazon recruiter today. I was told I need to do a 75m online test before the phone interview. Is there anyway to skip it to the phone interview? Thanks

Guys Guys, please listen! If you guys don't oppose this automated testing process now, then 3 years down, this will become the norm....just like leetcode perfect coding became normal in the last 3-4 years.

You have to say NO to this. Suggest alternatives to them or just refuse the interview. Find another recruiter at the same company or another company

NTDF9 you have to realize that with your experience you are setting yourself to a very niche skills but software development is way broader than that... algorithm solving is still the norm to measure someones capability of learning and solving problems... one day you are hacking jvm next day you are hacking llvm...

As much as I hate them too (and generally suck at them) they wouldn't be used if they didn't do a great filtering job. They've taken over because they work.

    OP:

You can not change the system. You need to embrace it. Learn a programming language and practice leetcode / hackerrank / etc.

Companies don't want smart people they need code monkeys to get the job done. The current screen process is to filter candidates. Companies want people who spend more time coding adding new features than smart people asking why we adding those features.

Like the other day in Blind people doesn't know who are Steve Wozniak and Paul Allen but they are pro leetcode engineers. Sad but true.

Good news: You can improve your coding skills in a few short time. If you become a pro coder you will become a valuable asset. Because you have the knowledge, experience and know the algorithm and coding skills required.

Prepare to get many rejections and learn from your mistakes, but never give up.

I took Amazon online screening test last summer. It was a joke. Finished it in 30 min, was invited straight to on-site in Seattle. You really shouldn't take it so seriously.

Cisco NTDF9 i tried your suggested approach with amazon and I never heard back again. Facebook is also doing "robot tests" through glider . Only company which hasn't hopped on board is Google- they still schedule phone screens the old fashioned way - via collabedit or google docs.

I had given the screening test only once ... for my first interview. Since then it has been always direct on-site
