How's the WLB and culture of the payments teams/Twitch in general? How "Amazonian" is it? Is there URA? Do on-calls suck?

Also what perks do Twitch employees get?

I know there's:
- unlimited PTO (is it really unlimited?)
- catering
- $100 monthly allowance for fitness stuff

Payments isnt a single team but several teams within the monetization org. In the past these teams have had a notoriously rough oncall rotation because of flaky integrations with 3P payment providers. You will also be dealing with international pricing, tax laws in various countries, fraud, and migrations out of legacy services into amazon tech. Are these problems you are interested in?

There has been a lot of churn at the senior engineer level in the past few months. There are some technical leaders that are transitioning to management roles who are exceptionally good and respected. Not all. There are a few that I would stay far away from. Rest are too new to make judgements about.

PTO is what you make of it. You need to be firm or you will get pushed around by deliverable dates. Same goes for WLB.

Twitch doesn’t stack rank but twitch keeps track of URA and has PIP. We simply don’t force a strict percentage of people into it.

On-call doesn't suck. WLB is great. It's not very Amazonian in that there is no aggressive on call or workload.
However, ymmv based on your manager

unlimited pto is seldom unlimited. Most of the time it's just so they don't have to give you any compensation for unused pto at the end of the year or when you leave.
