Why is amazon hiring people like crazy?
I have an intern return offer and many of my classmates also got the offer.
Honestly many of them don't deserve it and I wouldn't even want to make them my project partner. I am thinking of rejecting the offer seeing quality of hiring.

I am making 200k as ML Engineer at Oracle and work 25 hours a week. Should I then say MS has s*** WLB? Not really. It depends on individual perspectives.
Yes, Amazon has PIP culture, FB has it. Out of 100 people that gets put on PIP, not all 100 have bad relationship with managers. Many of them do not perform or have other priorities in life, which makes them unable to put, say on an average 50 hours per week at Amazon alone.
Remember those who do not perform well definitely have a bad relationship with their manager, which is why they are put on PIP. Those people just project their managers as bad managers here on blind. While I say that, there may actually be some genuine cases of people being nice but yet put on PIP. But few.
That’s not just true with Amazon but also with FB, Apple, Google and Netflix. I know my friend at Netflix who is making 550k TC that mentioned they have zero tolerance. It is just that Netflix has relatively fewer employees than Amazon and which is why we do not hear many things. All these companies have lesser number of employees when compared with Amazon.
So if work is interesting at Amazon, go for it. Again, even MS has better products. Azure is killing it. But AWS still has the edge. Hololens is by far the best AR kit I have experienced. Would love to work on it. But Skype? I see it isn’t doing well and MS may kill it in future because it isn’t worth when compared against it’s competitors. Teams is nice, takes a while to get more market share.
While Amazon and MS employees s*** talk about each other, you guys do realize that there’s a partnership between Alexa and Cortana right? MS has good and bad products. Amazon has good and bad products.
If you are in Amazon retail, learn something and move to AWS or Alexa or other departments you like. Same goes for MS.
PS: if you need specifics about my offer I could give more details. But based on my factual experience, MS has lower standards in terms of pay and interviews. Saying that some teams at MS have really high standards. It is team dependent at the end of the day, be it at Google as well.
So no, high quality doesnt imply they are going to get work done, and low quality doesn't imply they won't.
How do you know others don’t think low about you too?
