Stripe: finance and strategy vs business operations

Apr 14 3 Comments

Hi, can any current stripe employee explain the difference in the functions, and the face offs to internal vs external? I am looking at roles in both of those areas and curious to understand the nuances. As well as the job title/ level primer.

And if you're up for more of a conversation or referral please dm me.

Finance & strategy is actually just finance. Not sure why it has the “strategy” in the name. They do some strategy style work because they do a lot of analysis for the business, but pretty much all work is financial in nature (eg margin improvement). Bizops is your typical strategy and ops role in tech company, so they usually do more of the pure “strategy” work, but also do operational work like running business reviews, setting goals, etc. All these functions are internal facing only. Only sales, partnerships and some product managers are external facing.
