Blind peeps, help a sister decide. Main criteria are longer term career growth and some WLB (though I seem to be doing ok at Amazon )

Amazon : L7 applied scientist tc 700k
Base 260k rest RSUs

Meta E6 : base/stock/sign on
255k/1.5mm/100k sign on / 20% bonus

Microsoft L67
260k/1mm/400k/30% bonus

Meta has categorically said they will not do e7. Not sure if Microsoft will go higher but let’s assume this is the number I need to make a decision on .

Salary wise meta wins. The difference comes
To about 200k over 4 years for what it’s worth . This is including stock refreshers

  • I vote Meta. As an ML scientist myself, the tech/infra at Meta is way better than Microsoft and Amazon. At Meta, I could pick a team that was aligned with my interests, and I could then make the day-to-day work I do exactly the mix I would want it. So, I wanted to stay close to a product, but work on more interesting ML problems, and I got it. I prioritized WLB in picking a team, and it seems to be working well so far.

I see. In this case you have your answers I guess. You may ask the recruiter though if there are other teams that could be relevant for you that you can talk with. I know someone who was accepted as a pre-allocated E7, and he wasn't happy with the org he was accepted to, so the recruiter put him in contact with other orgs as well.

Long term growth and WLB wise MS will win every time you compare it to Amazon and Meta. If you are used to Amazon, Meta fits better however MS is a pretty darn good place if you want to coast through.

I left MSFT at L67 and there was zero coasting.

It depends on where you are, though, and if you're on the partner bench or trying to get there.

Congrats. The answer depends on what are you looking for in the next role.

Rest and vest? Msft >>>> meta > amzn.
Lots of money? Meta > amzn >>> msft.
Intersting work? Amzn >= meta >> msft.
Learn & grow? Amzn >= meta >>>>>> msft.
