Hey Folks, For those who work in the advisory division of the firms in EY, Deloitte , PwC and others, what are the benching policies look like? Were you told to find yourself new oppurtunities when you were on bench or the companies make every effort to get you a project? — Thanks PS offered Manager role in 2 of the companies. TC 200K ( Austin )
You gotta find your own work. Otherwise you get the boot
Yes
Yes you will need to find projects asap. Tolerance for low utilization is very low these days. Used to be 6 months now it’s like 3 months. Btw TC 200k at big 4 for manager? That’s very good! Mind sharing the base?
Ha I just wrote that below, what service line is offering 200k at manager??
You do have to find your own work. Just network and you'll be fine.
Try and get on a project soon else your utilization will suffer at the end of FY. They have shitty utilization targets.
I wasn’t told to find a project myself when I joined, demand was working on it (apparently). But nobody tells you about utilization issues in the beginning. Now you know, so better find one yourself if demand fails to do so in the first 10-15 days.
So join in - and I’m assuming there would be some kind of portal where projects are listed ( assuming ). And then start working on it. Btw as a general rule what’s the utilization target? Work 60+ hours a week .
85% for M. There is a “portal” but and you could check with your RMs. But in reality that never happens. Good projects are given to “preferred” managers and consultants.
At Deloitte we have a portal called StaffIt, but only positions that are not filled right away end up showing up there. A lot of the staffing happens through networking and other people referring your name when asked about resources. Sometimes the resource managers know of these hidden opportunities, sometimes they don’t. If you are with Deloitte, currently in some areas we sold more projects than we can staff, you will not sit on the bench for too long.
Utilization target means you have to be billable on a project for let’s say 89% time of the year. The target % will depend on your band. AFAIK there’s no portal where projects are listed. Your profile is uploaded on a portal and projects that need matching skillset will contact you. It’s a demand supply game. Basically network more with peers and partners.
200k as a manager in big 4 advisory???? Which service line is that??
