My mother in law is visiting from outside of USA and needs to take regular insulin. Is there anyway We can get her insulin here in USA while she visits? Do pharmacies give it out without a prescription?

      No she will need a US doctor to send a prescription to a US pharmacy

      Or get it at a urgent care or emergency room

      A prescription from abroad will NOT work here in the US. The pharmacy needs to receive the order from the doctor directly, they don’t care about any paper you have with you.

    Mister-big is correct. Your mother will need to see a US physician who will do bloodwork before he writes an insulin prescription. The cost will be $500-700, not including insulin costs.

    Insulin is a prescription drug in the US, she will need a prescription from someone here. Should not be super hard through a random PC doctor but not really free. If it’s an emergency, ERs will administer/prescribe limited amounts.

      I suspect that a doctor would want to run bloodwork and confirm whatever diagnosis before prescribing anything. Will take a few days and you will pay for it too of course

      If it’s an emergency they will do that at the ER
