We run plenty of micro services in C++ Stack is of course thrift and a mix of internal glue.
Yes, Google still loves C++. Stack is proprietary though.
You guys have amazing proprietary stack. Then you modify it and release it to open source world (like Borg and Kubernetes). Then the world starts using it because it's from Google, it is mostly over-engineered library for the most part. And companies without the scale of Google will start using it. Why don't you guys release your proprietary things to open source rather than modified ones with bugs 🤨 And also use Google Cloud yourself 😏
I'm not sure what's your point. And internal tools are all over-engineered if you ask me, moreso than the public stuff.

For what purpose would you need to use C++? Performance? Specific libraries?

Are you porting a service or creating a lambda/lambda equivalent from scratch? Have you considered using something like ECS/AWS Fargate?
