AWS upleveling after loop?

If the role I interview for is an L6, but I absolutely kill it during the loop, would AWS consider upleveling to L7? I've heard they mostly only do internal promos to L7. Any insights?

    There's no chance they up level you to L7 after the loop, but they could recommend that you complete a new loop calibrated at the L7 level with new interviewers. It's generally pretty hard to get hired in as an L7, but not impossible. Good luck!

    I just interviewed for L6 last week, and requested that they bump me to L7 as I felt I may fit their L7 bar better. Their interviewers agreed and I got passed to a principal engineering recruiter. Finished my L7 loop yesterday, received a verbal offer this evening. Expecting paper on Monday.

    So yes, it’s possible. Just be clear about why you’re asking, and only do it if you know you blew the L6 loop out of the water like I did.

      Honestly I reuse stories even between interviewers in the same loop. It has made a difference.

    • Interesting. Everywhere I've read has said to avoid that as much as possible. I guess it depends on the interviewing team.

      I ultimately ended up reusing 1 story during my loop

    The few times I have seen this happen are at a much more junior level and usually they get hints during the phone screen itself. Everyone in your loop has to say you are a “strong hire” basically. Then there might be a calibration follow up round with someone calibrated to assess L7. Hope this helps.

      This is exactly it. I just went through this. I prompted the L7 uplevel though, told the recruiter I felt I might fit L7 better and they left a note for the group when they met.
