can H1B visa holder become venture capitalist on the side?

My long term goal is to become VC. but h1B visa does not let me do that full time of course. green card is a long shot and wont happen for 10 years I guess. what is my best bet here? can I legally do venture capitalist job on the side while holding h1b? can I officially start a venture capital company while on H1b?

The immigration status piece is the easy part. Becoming a VC is going to be incredibly difficult. Do you know any VCs right now? Because your going to have to network HARD and then be very helpful to them before they consider bringing you on.

You can start a company without visa.

Everything is possible, you can work, have a business, VC etc... Each of them needs right set of paper work and laws to be followed. Finding suggestions here or internet is mostly not useful as it doesn't help in finding the solution. You will need to find right set of lawyer , accountant etc.. to help you out. If your dream is really big enough you will find your way out. All the best.

VC s don't need a visa in US. In fact they will give you a visa if you invest a certain amount of money.
